The beanie is lighter and has no chin tie: easier to put on, best for dry cold and for dogs who hate fastenings. The hood covers the neck as well and stays put in wind and rain.
It holds by stretch. For a dog that shakes a lot, or for windy walks, the hood with ties is the safer choice.
